Will Gulliver's Travels become a hit comic vehicle for Jack Black? I go to a movie and I want to paint it Black (Jack, that is...). Gulliver's Travels, which opens Saturday, Dec. 25th, is Jack Black's take on the Jonathan Swift tale in which he travels back in time - er, by a tidal wave. Enough said. Many versions of Gulliver's Travels were made by Hollywood through the decades, including a 4-hour NBC adaptation starring Ted Danson. To me, making the transition from print to electronic media has been a part of the film-influenced pop-culture generation for decades, when the famous Swift novel returns to the big screen once more, as Twentieth Century Fox (sans hyphen since 1985) unwinds their year-long "Celebrating 75 Years" initiative with another big-ticket feature film version of a legendary literary classic.
